2023

We are proud to announce our 2023 scholarship recipients Rylee Fowke and Nathan Clark each receiving $1000.00.

Rylee is a Wheeler High School graduate and will be attending The University of Oregon in the fall. He will start working towards his goal of becoming a Physical Education Teacher and coming back to Fossil to teach. We truly enjoyed meeting Rylee and have confidence he will reach his goals and become a strong leader for the upcoming youth.

Nathan is a graduate of Spray High School and will be moving to New Mexico to show his talents in the rodeo arena as part of the Dona Anna Community College Rodeo Team. Nathan plans to earn his bachelors degree in Agricultural Marketing and Business with a dream of coming home and running his own ranch. Nathan was a pleasure, and we look forward to following his journey.

2022

Our 2022 recipient Maddie McMurry was a Wheeler High School graduate. Maddie is just finishing up her 1st year at Southern Oregon University pursuing her passion in Psychology and Criminology.

The vision for the Barbara Sitton Memorial Charity Inc., is to inspire, promote and enhance the educational experiences of rural youth. This scholarship is available for all 2023 graduates of Wheeler, Spray, Mitchell, Condon, Arlington and Sherman County High Schools to apply.

Our main goal for 2022 was to provide a scholarship(s) to a graduating Senior at Wheeler High School (Barb’s alma mater). We created a scholarship opportunity for students that is not solely based on merit but would be more inclusive and available to all students to apply for.

May of 2022 we were able to provide a $1000 scholarship to a Wheeler County High School graduating Senior. We also contributed a $300 donation to the Wheeler County Gun Club 4H Group. We will be presenting a buckle to the high point cowgirl or cowboy at the Wheeler County Fair Play night and cash bonuses to two outstanding 4H participants.
